The participants of the seminar will talk about why Nabokov's novel continues to produce so much response, both in art and in public discussions and how the moral issues raised by Nabokov seventy years ago are treated in varying cultural paradigms. Besides
Lolita, we will also focus on the novel by Kate Elizabeth Russell
My Dark Vanessa, which has recently been translated into Russian and caused much debate in this country. Another focus will be the novel
Consent by the French author Vanessa Springora (a real-life story told by the victim), which has fueled a cultural shift in France.
